Lime (Poem)

My sister has a pregnancy tracker app 

to compare the size of her baby

with assorted fruits and vegetables.

At first it was a poppy seed,

the other week a Kalamata olive,

now a lime

and while it’s here

we will enjoy this time.

Soon it’ll be capsicum

or honeydew

and no doubt we’ll forget 

how good it was 

this citrus time of life.
